This position will be primarily responsible for the general financial and operational accounting functions, including inventory management, analyzing client carbon footprints, and financial reporting support. The successful candidate will be a vital member of a growing team, assisting with the decarbonization of aviation through comprehensive sustainability solutions. The candidate will have a role in all pillars of sustainability including carbon offsets, sustainable aviation fuel, in addition to supporting the financial reporting function, such as month-end duties, financial forecasting, and analysis.

Essential Functions:
1. Responsibilities within accounting focusing on carbon footprinting and greenhouse gas accounting.
2. Calculates carbon footprints and ad-hoc emissions analysis based on client information using company tools, Microsoft Excel, and PowerBI.
3. Utilize assumptions and construct complex financial models for forecasting or client needs.
4. Direct preparation of reports and analyses in areas such as budgets, forecasts, financial performance, and metrics.
5. Assist with month-end close, including completing monthly operational journal entries.
6. Assists with inventory documentation, management, and inventory allocation to clients.
7. Ability to effectively adapt to changing responsibilities and priorities, in a sometimes ambiguous and evolving area of scope.
8. Creates new tools and processes to improve company private and public resources.
9. Becomes a subject matter expert on carbon accounting within aviation.
10. Build models for current and prospective clients that forecast their emissions footprint over time, while considering operational changes and different methods of decarbonizing.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Key Skills and Competencies
Working knowledge of process improvement methodology and application, cost accounting and budgeting principals necessary to read and interpret profit/loss statements, develop and build financial-based models.
Interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, employees, partners, external contacts, and other departments. Ability to professionally represent the company at industry events.
Ability to accept feedback and work collaboratively as part of a team to develop and apply skills in a unique setting.
Thoughtful application of inventory management, recordkeeping and documentation principles.
Ability to meet deadlines, must be comfortable prioritizing tasks, demonstrate flexibility, display a strong work ethic, fanatical attention to detail, and sense of urgency.
Proven ability to identify problems based on quantitative figures then solve those problems.
Highly proficient numerical skills necessary to effectively calculate, problem solve, model and understand new concepts.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in accounting or finance.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or financial reporting.
Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting standards.
Successful candidate should be highly motivated, self-directed, proactive, and able to work effectively under time constraints with a positive attitude.
Additional Desired Qualifications:
Working knowledge of business aviation industry, products, and services.
Working knowledge of sustainability industry, including carbon offsets, sustainable fuels, and new technology.
Background in public accounting.
Has obtained or started towards a pilots license.
